Parent Organization: Student Involvement & Leadership Center
"We provide career-focused K.U. students of any major with opportunities for professional advancement, to enhance resumes and network with other successful people."
Members gain access to all of our resume-strengthening services and activities as early as second semester of freshman year.
The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (N.S.C.S.) is a nationwide honor society that recognizes, elevates and provides benefits for high-achieving students at more than 300 colleges and universities. We don't accept just any guy off the street, though. Fewer than 10 percent of students at institutions with N.S.C.S. chapters qualify for membership each year, meaning if you get invited, you're a pretty serious dude (or lady). Invitees must be in their first or second year of their undergraduate career, and have earned a GPA of 3.4 or above.
Sure, we offer nearly half a million dollars in annual scholarships and multiple study-abroad opportunities through our national site, but N.S.C.S. is more than that. We're a growth opportunity, leadership training ground and career resource. Students who join meet people on campus -- and sometimes at other schools -- they might not have otherwise. These people will become your friends, long-term supporters, and perhaps future colleagues. Students who join also get the tools and encouragement they need to take part in transforming the on-campus and community-wide issues that mean the most to them.
If you choose to join N.S.C.S., we must be honest, there is a $95 membership fee. We know money is awesome and you or your parents don't like to throw it around willy-nilly. With this fee, though, comes lifetime membership, meaning you will owe us absolutely nothing after that. The really important thing to know, however, is the world of benefits that opens up with membership. You will flat-out have an edge in your career search and your resume will be hands-down more impressive.
