Mock Trial, KU

Mock Trial is a competitive team that focuses on developing skills for our future. We are a close-knit group that has the competitiveness of a large university. Whether you are interested in going to law school, want some acting experience, enjoy speech activities, or want to connect with a fun campus organization, KU Mock has something for everyone.

KU Mock Trial competes in tournaments across the country as attorneys and witnesses. Each year we are given case materials by the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA), and we build a case to compete with. At tournaments, we have four rounds of competition where we compete as "Prosecution" and "Defense." In these rounds, some students play mock attorneys and some play mock witnesses. Attorneys give opening statements, direct a witness, cross-examine a witness, and give closing arguments. Witnesses play characters that are directed and cross-examined by attorneys.
