KU Jiu-Jitsu Club
About
Our mission is to introduce the sport and martial art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to the students of KU in a safe and affordable manner. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling martial art that specializes in chokes, joint locks, takedowns, throws, and controlling your opponent without throwing strikes. There are two formats of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: Gi and No-Gi. Our club uses both of these formats.
We welcome all students of any experience level. Whether you are just starting out or you are an experienced Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, you will fit right in with our club. Practices will regularly be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (6pm-8pm), as well as Friday evenings (5pm-7pm). Practices will incorporate technique drills as well as rolling (sparring).
If you are interested in joining the club, feel free to visit us during our practice time in the martial arts room (Room 123) at Ambler, or send us an email.
Practice Schedule:
Tuesday (Gi): 6:00pm-8:00pm
Thursday (No-Gi): 6:00pm-8:00pm
Friday (No-Gi): 5:00pm-7:00pm
If you don't have your own Gi, don't worry! We have plenty of extras for new members to use during our Tuesday practices.
