Lambda Pi Eta is an accredited member of the Association of College Honors Societies (ACHS) and the official honor society of the National
Communication Association. Lambda Pi Eta recognizes, fosters, and rewards outstanding scholastic achievement while stimulating interest
in the communication discipline.
Through Lambda Pi Eta you can network within the department and serve the undergraduate Communication Studies community. Some of Lambda Pi Eta's purposes are:
• Providing an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the field of communication;
• Establishing and maintaining closer relationships and mutual understanding between communication studies faculty and students;
• Exploring options for graduate education in communication studies; and
• Promoting and encouraging professional development among communication studies majors.
Lamda Pi Eta members participate in planning the Communication Studies department's graduation ceremony and hold panel discussion on topics such as applying to graduate school. We bring in professionals from a variety of fields to talk about what you can do with a degree in Communication Studies. Lamda Pi Eta members have also gathered together for community service activities and fun!
Membership is based on four qualifications. You must be a Communication Studies major and have: a) completed 60 college credit hours with 12 hours of COMS courses, b) an overall G.P.A. of 3.00, and c) a COMS G.P.A. of 3.25.
